ROAD//STABILIZR®
Long-term stabilization for clay-rich soils
A long-term stabilization solution for roads that require continuous maintenance due to wet weather and marginal materials. It targets high-clay soils and increases their density, stability and strength, using the material already in place.

Mechanism
How it works
The ROAD//STABILIZR® formula combines organic catalysts, electrolytes and surfactants. The solution penetrates clay soils and modifies the clay particles, which become strongly and semi-permanently bonded. The clay stops being the road's problem and acts as a flexible binder that locks the aggregates in place.
The product acts as a catalyst that removes excess water from the soil and promotes high compaction and densification. The resulting layer shows an increased CBR value, reduced swelling and permeability, and remains stable through repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
Because the treatment uses the in-situ material, no foreign materials need to be hauled in: savings on transport and aggregates are substantial, and maintenance costs drop dramatically.

Advantages
Benefits for your project
Increases the CBR value of the stabilized layer
Reduces soil swelling and permeability
Dramatically reduces maintenance costs
Stable through repeated freeze–thaw cycles
Effective in both wet and dry conditions
Biodegradable, non-toxic, non-corrosive: a natural, environmentally friendly product
Uses the in-situ material: substantial savings, no materials hauled in from outside the area
Applied with standard road-building equipment, no specialized machinery
The road opens to traffic immediately after final compaction
Dosage
Dosage and sizing
1 L treats 33 m³ of compacted soil
The required quantity is calculated from the stabilized layer volume (length × width × compacted thickness). The final dosage is confirmed through preliminary laboratory testing.

Application steps
Preliminary laboratory testing
The soil is classified (cohesive/non-cohesive, per SR EN ISO 14688-2) and the tests confirm compatibility and establish the dosage and the optimum compaction moisture.
Layer preparation
The in-situ material is scarified and reprofiled with standard road-building equipment: a regular grader and reclaimer are all that is needed.
Applying the solution
ROAD//STABILIZR® is diluted in the water required to reach optimum moisture and spread evenly over the layer, during soil preparation and before compaction. It is not applied on frozen ground.
Mixing and grading
The solution is blended into the layer, then the surface is graded to the designed profile.
Final compaction
The layer is compacted to the required density. The road can open to traffic immediately after final compaction.
Fields of use
Suitable surfaces and uses
Communal, county and national roads built on clay subgrades
Access roads and haul roads
Rehabilitation and upgrading of gravel roads using the existing material
Base layer for roads to be paved (per the technical approval procedure: 15 cm of ballast over the stabilized layer + asphalt mix)
Also recommended for forestry, agricultural and mining roads, based on Cypher's international experience

FAQ
Frequently asked engineering questions
What is the dosage and how do I calculate the required quantity?
The official dosage is 1 L of ROAD//STABILIZR® per 33 m³ of compacted soil. The quantity is determined from the stabilized layer volume: length × width × compacted thickness. Our online calculator gives a quick estimate; the final dosage is confirmed through preliminary laboratory testing.
Which soil types does it work on?
The product is formulated for soils with a high clay content, whose particles it bonds strongly and semi-permanently. The soil is first classified per SR EN ISO 14688-2, and laboratory testing confirms compatibility. In Romania we have treated clayey, sandy and silty soils as well as existing gravel surfaces.
Under what site and weather conditions can it be applied?
Application takes place during soil preparation, before compaction, using standard road-building equipment. It is not applied on frozen ground, and the layer must be brought to its optimum compaction moisture. The product is effective in both wet and dry conditions.
When can the road be opened to traffic?
Immediately after final compaction. No road closure period is required, which significantly reduces disruption for residents and traffic.
Are MSDS and technical documentation available for design work?
Yes. MSDS sheets are available on request. The product holds a technical approval issued by the Romanian Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration together with the Permanent Technical Council for Construction, and our team provides support in preparing design documentation.
