Modernization of county road DJ203K between km 38+000 and km 75+000, on the Mărăcineni – Podu Muncii sector, with Buzău County Council as beneficiary and OYL Company Holding SA Slobozia as general contractor. Sistem Construct 2007 supplied the Cypher products and provided technical assistance for the ecological stabilization of the foundation.
Project context
DJ203K is an important county artery for Buzău County, and the Mărăcineni – Podu Muncii sector (km 38+000 – 75+000) was included by Buzău County Council in a modernization programme. On a sector of this length, the quality and uniformity of the foundation soil are decisive for the durability of the road structure.
The general contractor, OYL Company Holding SA Slobozia, integrated into the works the ecological stabilization procedure with Cypher Environmental products, which holds a technical approval for roads in Romania.
The applied solution
Sistem Construct 2007 supplied ROAD//STABILIZR® and DUST/BLOKR® and provided technical assistance throughout execution: preliminary laboratory testing, dosages adapted to the soils encountered along the alignment, supervision of application and of compaction at the layer's optimum moisture content.
The soil was treated with ROAD//STABILIZR® to increase density and stability, then with DUST/BLOKR® to reduce permeability. Over the stabilized layer, the road structure was built according to the design: ballast layer and asphalt surfacing.
The result
The county road received a stabilized, homogeneous, water-resistant foundation along the entire modernized sector, a reliable support for the designed asphalt structure. Reusing the in-situ material reduced aggregate haulage on a linear site spanning tens of kilometres.
Working with a public beneficiary such as Buzău County Council and a regional general contractor confirms the maturity of the procedure in county-level infrastructure projects.
