Modernization of county road DJ213A in Ialomița County, along the Călărași county limit – DN2A and Mărculești – Bucu – Scânteia – DN21 alignment, executed by SC OYL Company Holding AG SRL. Sistem Construct 2007 supplied the Cypher products and provided technical assistance for the ecologically stabilized foundation layer.
Project context
DJ213A connects several localities in Ialomița County to national roads DN2A and DN21, along an extended alignment in the Bărăgan plain, an area of predominantly clayey soils, sensitive to moisture variation. Modernizing the road required a stable, durable foundation over its entire length.
The contractor, SC OYL Company Holding AG SRL, opted for the ecological stabilization of the foundation soil with Cypher Environmental products, instead of conventional solutions based solely on material replacement.
The applied solution
Sistem Construct 2007, as official Cypher Environmental distributor, supplied ROAD//STABILIZR® and DUST/BLOKR® and provided technical assistance during application: preliminary laboratory testing, dosage design, supervision of treatment and compaction at optimum moisture content.
The clayey soil was treated with ROAD//STABILIZR®, turning the clay into a flexible binder that locks the aggregates in place, then with DUST/BLOKR® to reduce the layer's permeability. Over the stabilized layer, the road structure was built according to the design: ballast layer and asphalt mixtures.
The result
Stabilization gave the county road a homogeneous, dense foundation with reduced water sensitivity, ready for the designed asphalt structure. Using the in-situ material reduced excavation and haulage volumes over a long alignment.
The project demonstrates the integration of the ecological Cypher procedure into county road modernization works, in collaboration with large general contractors.
