Maintenance works on the communal roads of Piscu, Galați County, executed by Sistem Construct 2007 SRL as general contractor. The roads were ecologically stabilized and waterproofed with ROAD//STABILIZR® and DUST/BLOKR®, using the existing material.
Project context
The communal road network in Piscu, Galați County, required periodic maintenance: the existing gravel surfaces were degrading under traffic and rainfall, generating dust in the dry season and material loss in the wet season.
The local authority needed a solution that would extend the service life of the roads between interventions, without the cost of full reconstruction. The works were awarded to Sistem Construct 2007 SRL as general contractor, through public tender.
The applied solution
After preliminary laboratory testing, the existing layers were regraded and treated with ROAD//STABILIZR® to increase density and stability, then with DUST/BLOKR® to waterproof the surface and control dust, a non-toxic, biodegradable alternative to traditional chlorides.
The entire procedure was carried out with standard road equipment, on the existing material, bringing the layer to optimum moisture content before compaction.
The result
The treated communal roads gained a dense, stable, waterproofed surface, with visibly reduced dust emissions and good behaviour in both wet and dry weather. The semi-soluble nature of the DUST/BLOKR® treatment reduces the need for frequent reapplication.
For the beneficiary, the solution meant lower maintenance costs and a longer interval between interventions, with zero environmental impact.
